In marathon swimming relays, each member of the team swims for a specified length of time, usually one hour, and swimmers continue rotating until the swim is complete. On 18 September 2010, Julie Bradshaw, who swam butterfly, Susan Ratcliffe, on backstroke, Peter May, on breaststroke, and Kim Owen on front crawl, became the first team to swim the English Channel in a medley relay when they reached France at 5:30 p.m., having left the English shores 11 hr 29 min earlier. The record was set under the auspices of the Channel Swimming Association.
