1983’s Dragon’s Lair and its 1984 spiritual successor Space Ace are the first and only games to have been produced on every major optical disc format, including Laserdisc, CD, DVD and Blu-ray. The original games, designed by ex-Disney animator Don Bluth, were actually stored on and played from lasediscs, with the player’s joystick movements effectively skipping the action to the appropriate chapter on the disc. The games were both subsequently released at retail on CD, DVD and Blu-ray.
