Most ubiquitous videogame villain

Super Mario’s biggest and most famous foe is Bowser, also known as King Koopa, a large turtle-meets-dinosaur monster who can breathe fire. He had appeared in 201 videogames as of the release of Mario & Luigi: Brothership (Acquire, 2024), having debuted in the first Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo) game back in 1985. As well as cameos and NPC appearances, Bowser is a regular in Super Mario spin-off titles including the Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. multiplayer series.

This is an update to Bowser's previous record-winning number of appearances, which stood at 132 at a prior count.
