According to the annual Billionaires 2018 list, published by Forbes on 6 March 2018, eCommerce entrepreneur and Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos (USA) is the first person to surpass $100 billion in personal wealth, with an estimated net worth of $112 billion (£81 billion).

The second richest person on the Forbes Billionaires 2018 list was Microsoft founder Bill Gates (USA), with an estimated worth of $90 billion (£65.1 billion); Gates has topped the rich list for 18 of the last 24 years.

In third place was the chairman of investment company Berkshire Hathaway, Warren Buffett (USA), on $84 billion (£60.7 billion).
