With sales of 68.2 million units as of 31 March 2025, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Nintendo EPD, 2017) has raced into a very comfortable lead as far as games for the Nintendo Switch console go. It's sold over 20 million more units than the second-place game, Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Nintendo EPD, 2020).
Mario Kart 8 originally released for the WiiU, the Nintendo console that preceded the Switch, and it was the best-selling game on that console as well, selling 8.46 million units.
The latest game in the series, Mario Kart World (Nintendo EPD), was a launch title for the Switch 2 in June 2025, but sales data is not yet available.
