Goalkeeper Zubizarreta played for three sides in Spain’s top flight: Athletic Bilbao, Barcelona and Valencia. Joaquín, a winger, equalled the La Liga appearance record in his final match as a professional, Real Betis’s 1–1 draw against Valencia on 4 June 2023. He was aged 41. Joaquín had two spells at Betis, and also featured in La Liga playing for Valencia and Málaga.
