Meat Loaf's (USA, b. Michael Lee Aday) 1977 rock 'n' roll classic Bat Out of Hell has sold 1.7 million copies in Australia. The Jim Steinman-penned album spawned the singles "You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night)", "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad", "Paradise by the Dashboard Light" and the title track, described by Q magazine as a song that "transcends such things as time and genre".
