Highest-grossing PG film at the domestic box office (opening weekend)

A part-live-action/part-animation remake of Beauty and the Beast was released in North America on 17 March 2017, where it took US$174,750,616 (£140,956,000) at the box office from 4,210 screens, the highest opening weekend gross for any PG-rated movie in a domestic market. The figures were confirmed on 24 March 2017 by The Numbers (www.the-numbers.com).

The next highest-grossing domestic opening weekend for a PG film is US$135,060,273 (£94,035,400), taken by Pixar's Finding Dory on 17–19 June 2016.
