Crystal Dynamic’s glorious reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise in 2013 has understandably gone down in history as the most successful of all time. Publisher Square Enix reported that the game sold one-million copies in its opening 48hrs, then continued to sell as many as 8.5 million by April 2015. The previous record holder was the original Tomb Raider, which had achieved 7 million sales, according to Square Enix official records.
