The longest time spent living in an underwater fixed habitat is 120 days, and was achieved by Rüdiger Koch (German), who entered Ocean Builders SeaPod Alpha Deep at a depth of 11 m (36 ft) just off the coast of Puerto Lindo, Provincia de Colón, Panamá, on 26 September 2024 and left on 24 January 2025.
For this attempt, the Seapod was used as the facility, which featured both above and below water living areas. This record attempt was intended to show the potential for sustainable ocean living and expand our understanding of future habitat possibilities.
