The largest concrete skatepark is the SMP Skatepark in north-east Shanghai, China, opened on 6 October 2005. It covers 13,700 m² (147,466 square feet) of rideable terrain. The SMP Skatepark was designed by the Australian Simon Oxenham and Convic Design and built by Chengtou Construction.
Equal to 2.14 soccer fields, 10.96 Olympic swimming pools or 52.5 tennis courts, at its widest points the skatepark measures 230 m (754 ft 7 in) long and 90 m (295 ft 3 in) in width. It includes a 2,000-m² (21,528-ft²) competition zone with seating for 5,000 spectators.
This was formerly the largest skatepark overall, until the construction of the GMP Skatepark in Guangzhou, which measures 16,900 square metres (182,000 square feet).
