Most followers on Twitter for an actor

Although known primarily as a pop star, Katy Perry (USA; @katyperry) has also performed in a handful of acting roles. Her 108,792,345 followers as of 12 March 2018 make her the most-followed actor on Twitter. As of the same date, however, the most followers for an individual with a substantial history of acting roles was 56,154,648 for Selena Gomez (USA; @selenagomez).

Perry's roles include providing the voice-over for Smurfette in The Smurfs (USA, 2011) and follow-up The Smurfs 2 (USA/Canada/France, 2013). She also appeared in an episode of the CBS TV series How I Met Your Mother in 2011, playing the part of Honey in the episode “Oh Honey”.

In terms of other high-profile singers who have also acted, both Rihanna (Barbados; @rihanna) and Taylor Swift (USA; @taylorswift13) have made a small number of appearances. Justin Timberlake (USA; @jtimberlake) has acted in several acclaimed movies, including Social Network (USA, 2010) and Inside Llewyn Davis (USA/UK/France, 2013).
