The most Olympic badminton medals won by an individual (male) is 3, achieved by Kim Dong-moon (South Korea) in 1996, 2000 and 2004; equalled by Lee Chong Wei (Malaysia) and Fu Haifeng (China) in 2008, 2012 and 2016; Zhang Nan (China) in 2012 and 2016; Chen Long (China) in 2012, 2016 and 2021; and by Viktor Axelsen (Denmark) in 2016, 2021 and 2024.
Viktor Axelsen defended his men’s singles title at the 2024 Paris Olympics to take his all-time medal count to three, (two golds and a bronze from 2016), matching the record held by five other male badminton players.
