The final of the inaugural Street Fighter V tournament at the Evo 2016 Championship Series in Las Vegas, USA on 17 July 2016, was watched by approximately 409,496 viewers. The Twitch stream enjoyed a concurrent peak of 208,496 viewers, while around a further 201,000 tuned in to watch the action unfold on ESPN 2 – the first time EVO had been broadcast on TV. South Korea's Lee "Infiltration" Seonwoo won the contest, beating Ai "Fuudo" Keita of Japan in the final.

The Street Fighter V tournament was also the largest fighting game tournament, with some 5,000 applicants.
