The youngest winner of the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament (ACPT) is Tyler Hinman (USA, b. 5 November 1984), who took home the trophy – and $4,000 (£2,083) prize – at the end of the annual competition on 13 March 2005 at the age of 20 years 128 days. This was the first of (a one-time record) five consecutive ACPT wins for Hinman, at the time a technology student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York, USA.
Hinman saw off competition from 450 entrants to win the tournament – his fourth visit to the tournament.
