Cut from the largest diamond ever discovered – the Cullinan found on 26 January 1905 at the Premier Diamond Mine in South Africa – the First Star of Africa, or Great Star of Africa, weighs 530.2 carats (106.04 grams). The specimen was cut by Asscher's Diamond Co. in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on 10 February 1908 and is now set in the Sovereign's Sceptre of the British Crown Jewels.
In total, the Cullinan was cut into 106 polished diamonds.
