A LEGO minifigure built from 1,985 modelling balloon reached a height of 6 m (19 ft 8 in) – or 150 times larger than the standard minifigure – at the Brick LEGO event in the Excel Centre in London, UK, on 30 November 2014. The minifigure, which required no framing or internal support, was built over three days by a team led by Larry Moss of Airigami (USA). The entire sculpture, including scaled-up LEGO pieces, used 4,174 balloons.
The minifig used 1,402 646Q balloons (each 6 x 46 in), 333 260Q (2 x 60 in) balloons and 250 321Q balloons (which are 3 inches in diameter with a tip for tying end-to-end with other balloons). The minifig was hollow, and the only support provided was a line from the ceiling to anchor it in place. The build team comprised Larry Moss (USA), Kelly Cheatle (USA), Michael Abrahamson (Ireland), Caroline Ainslie (UK) and Rachael Daley.
