The most goals scored by a substitute in the first half of a Premier League match is two and was achieved by Chris Smalling (UK), playing for Manchester United versus Burnley at Old Trafford in Manchester, England, UK, on 11 February 2015. Chris Smalling, a defender, is not known for his goal-scoring and had only scored six goals in his previous 162 games before a historic night at Old Trafford. Replacing the injured Phil Jones in the fifth minute of the game, he headed in his first goal with his first touch of the game just 22 seconds later and would go onto score a second headed goal in stoppage time of the first half as he connected with an Angel Di Maria cross. It was the first time a substitute had scored multiple goals in the first half of a game. The record for the most goals in the second half is four by former Manchester United player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
