According to the D-Waste Association, the world's largest dump site is Reque, located in Peru. It covers an area of 235 ha (2.35 km²), equivalent to 324 times the size of the football pitch in Wembley Stadium in London, UK.
The site has been active for 35 years; it receives about 225,500 tonnes of waste per year, with the total waste so far estimated at 4,000,000–5,700,000 tonnes.
