The oldest raccoon dog in captivity (ever) is Tanu (Japan, found in April 1998), aged 16 years 237 days as of 23 December 2014, and owned by Takahiro Nakamura (Japan) in Nagoya, Aichi, Japan.
Tanu passed away on 23 December 2014.
Tanu also had a female sibling named Tsuya which passed away in September 2013. They were found together with two other raccoon dogs in April 1998 by a veterinarian Masashi Kuze.
Takahiro Nakamura got to know Tanu and Tsuya from the time they were found, and adopted them in 2005.
