Best-selling solo artist (US)

According to the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), Elvis Presley (USA, 1935-77) has been certified for sales of 134.5 million units, although it has been reported that his actual US sales are in excess of 600 million units. Elvis' RIAA-certified sales are second only to The Beatles (UK) on 178 million units. According to the RIAA, as of 27 November 2014, country superstar Garth Brooks (USA) was just behind Elvis on 134 million certified units.

Elvis Presley has been awarded 90 gold (500,000 sales), 52 platinum (1 million sales) and 25 multi-platinum (2 million+ sales) certificates by the RIAA for his album sales. His total of 167 awards and tally of gold and platinum certificates are unmatched. The Beatles have one more multi-platinum award (26) than Presley.
