The most bank accounts opened in 1 week as part of a financial inclusion campaign is 18,096,130 and was organised by the Department of Financial Services, Government of India (India), from 23 to 29 August 2014.

The campaign was called Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), which means National Mission on Financial Inclusion, and ran from 16 to 29 August 2014.

The bank accounts were opened under the PMJDY by 36 banks across India (27 public sector banks and eight private sector banks).
