The first winning goal scored by a substitute in a football (soccer) FIFA World Cup Final was by Mario Goetze (Germany) for Germany vs Argentina at the Estadio Maracanã, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on 13 July 2014.
The first substitute to score in a World Cup Final was Dick Nanninga for Netherlands vs Argentina in 1978 but the goal was the equalizer with Netherlands going on to lose the match. In 1982 Alessandro Altobelli scored the third goal for Italy against West Germany but it is not considered the winning goal as the final score was 3-1. The only other substitute to score in World Cup Finals is Rudi Voeller in Germany's defeat to Argentina in 1986.
