The rarest species of jellyfish is the so-called Cookii Monster Crambione cookii of Australia. It was first recorded by American scientist Alfred Gainsborough Mayor, when he saw a specimen of this very large, pink and extremely venomous jellyfish in the sea off Cookstown, Queensland, in 1910. The specimen wasn't captured but Mayor did sketch it. This species was not reported again until autumn 2013, when a specimen was spotted and also captured off Queensland's Sunshine Coast by aquarist Puk Scivyer from the nearby UnderWater World Aquarium, where the specimen is now being cared for. It was identified as a "Cookii Monster" when it was compared with Mayor's original 1910 sketch.
