In December 2011, a copy of Sonic the Hedgehog (Sega, 1991) for the Sega Master System appeared on eBay. It was a rare copy of Sonic the Hedgehog with a specific US barcode sticker on the back. Apart from that, the box, packaging and game itself were identical. Nonetheless, collectors went into a bidding frenzy and the copy eventually sold for $981.33 (£636).
