Longest-running fighting videogame series

The first Street Fighter (Capcom) game released as an arcade game on 30 August 1987, and the franchise has been fighting fit for nearly 40 years since then. As of the 5 June 2025 release of the Switch 2 version of Street Fighter 6 (which originally released on PC and other consoles in 2023), the series has been brawling for 37 years 280 days, longer than any other fighting game series out there.

There are over 40 games that can be said to be in the Street Fighter series, but it gets complicated. There are remakes or alternate versions of titles that change the roster, which is why Street Fighter II (1991), Street Fighter II: Champion Edition (1992), Street Fighter II Turbo (1992), Super Street Fighter II (1993) and Super Street Fighter II Turbo (1994) all exist!
