Mithali Raj (India) amassed 7,805 runs in 232 One-Day Internationals (ODI) between 26 June 1999 and 27 March 2022, including an unrivalled 71 50-plus scores and seven hundreds. As of 10 June 2022, Raj’s ODI career span of 22 years 274 days was the longest of any player, male or female.
India’s captain averaged 50.68 runs in 211 innings played in her 232 ODI appearances. Among her seven hundreds was a top score of 125 not out, against Sri Lanka on 16 September 2018. On 12 July 2017, Raj became the leading run-scorer in women’s ODI cricket, surpassing Charlotte Edwards’ 5,992 runs in 191 matches (180 innings) for England between 1997 and 2016. Raj made 114 not out on her ODI debut against Ireland on 26 June 1999. It was, at the time, the highest score on debut by a female batter since Lynne Thomas’ 134 for England on 23 June 1973. Nicole Bolton’s 124 for Australia on 23 January 2014 is the only ODI debut knock to surpass Raj’s effort since 1999. Raj captained India to two ICC Women’s World Cup finals (2005 and 2017). In 2015, she became the first female player to be honoured by Wisden India as one of their Cricketers of the Year.
