High-reach demolition excavators are vehicles that resemble mechanical diggers with extremely long digging arms, used for knocking down tall buildings. The largest is able to smack down buildings of 90 metres in height. Owned by Dutch company Euro Demolition, it consists of a Caterpillar 5110B excavator onto which has been mounted a super-long Rusch TUHD 90-5 demolition boom. In order to carry such a large boom, the Caterpillar base unit was extensively modified by Rusch – who widened and lengthened the vehicle body, and lengthened the tracks by 2.5 metres.
