Actor Brad Pitt (USA) became the first male face of Chanel No.5 perfume in an advertising campaign that launched on Monday, 15 October 2012. His fee of $7 million was the highest fee paid to an actor for an advertising campaign.
The fee covers his involvement in an advertising campaign that is expected to cost around $10 million in total. Shot by Atonement director Joe Wright (UK), the initial ad features Pitt saying the lines: “It's not a journey. Every journey ends, but we go on. The world turns, and we turn with it. Plans disappear, dreams take over. But wherever I go, there you are, my luck, my fate, my fortune. Chanel No.5, inevitable.”
In the past ads for Chanel No.5 have featured actresses such as Audrey Tautou (France), Nicole Kidman (Australia) and Catherine Deneuve (France). The fragrance is also linked to Marilyn Monroe (USA), who famously claimed that it was all she wore in bed.
