The oldest surviving skatepark is Cannon’s Creek, first constructed in 1974 in a suburb of Porirua, New Zealand. A tarmac-covered set of gently sloped c. 2-m-high (6-ft 6.74-in) banks and turns, it covers around 225 m² (2421.88 ft²) of open land at the junction of Sievers Grove and Hampshire Street. It was publicly built and free to access.
