In 1976, the Polaroid Corporation built the first prototype of what is still the largest Polaroid camera in use today – the 20x24. True to its name, this camera is capable of running out instant photographs with dimensions 20 inches by 24 inches. Only five of the devices were built, each of which weigh 107 kg (235 lb) and require a wheeled base to move them around. Although Polaroid itself filed for bankruptcy in 2008, 20x24 Holdings LLC now continues the large-format photography arm of the business – maintaining stocks of film and development chemicals, and packaging them into self-contained "pods" to be used in these giant cameras.
