Kraits are striped, venomous species of snake belonging to the genus Bungarus within the taxonomic family Elapidae. The most venomous species of krait is the Chinese or many-banded krait Bungarus multicinctus, found largely in Taiwan and China, but also in Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam. Up to 1.85 m long and named after its body's black and white transverse bands, its highly neurotoxic venom yields an LD of 0.09-0.108 mg/kg.
