The men's games at London 2012 attracted a total audience of 1,525,134 (compared to 1,397,448 in Beijing), while 661,796 people attended the women's matches (740,014 in Beijing).
The London 2012 figures were boosted by the 86,162 people who saw Mexico defeat Brazil 2-1 in the men's final at Wembley Stadium on 11 August, and an Olympic and European record attendance of 80,203 for a women's match was set when the USA defeated Japan 2-1 at Wembley on 9 August (see record ID 80152).
