Their gold medals were collected in singles (one title each, Venus in 2000 and Serena in 2012) and doubles (three titles together, in 2000, 2008 and 2012). They also became the first pair to win the women's doubles three times at the Olympic Games when they defeated Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka (Czech Republic) 6-4, 6-4 to retain their title at Wimbledon, London, UK, on 5 August 2012. Prior to London 2012, Serena and Venus Williams shared this record with Reginald "Reggie" Doherty (UK, 1872-1910), who won gold medals in the doubles and mixed doubles (with his brother Laurie and Charlotte Cooper, respectively) at Paris 1900 and a third gold in the doubles (with George Hillyard) at London 1908. No other player, past or present, has won more than two gold medals in Olympic tennis competition (singles or doubles).
