The most goals in NHL history is 895 and was achieved by Alexander Ovechkin (Russia) playing for the Washington Capitals, between 5 October 2005 and 6 April 2025.
Ovechkin was drafted by the Capitals in 2004 with the 1st overall pick.
He has won the Hart Memorial Trophy (MVP) three times, and led Washington to its first Stanley Cup championship in 2018, where he was also awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP.
He broke Wayne Gretzky's previous scoring record, which had stood for 31 years.
