The tallest incumbent world leader is Edi Rama (b. born Edvin Kristaq Rama), Prime Minister of Albania since 11 September 2013, who reportedly stands 200.66 cm (6 ft 7 in). He is a former member of Albania's national basketball team.
As a teenager, Rama (b. 4 July 1964) played basketball for Dinamo Tirana and later joined the national team. He became involved in politics and, after a hiatus living overseas, returned in 1998 in the capacity of Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
