Queen (Freddie Mercury (b. Zanzibar), Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon, all UK) were the first complete group inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, in 2003. The first induction ceremony was staged in 1969. Quote: “The songs have a rhythmic jolt that can’t help but make your head nod back and forth and singing along amounts to a virtual reflex due to the anthemic nature of the material” – Songwriters Hall of Fame website 389 individuals have been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame since the inaugural ceremony in 1969. Crosby, Stills & Nash, in 2009, are the only other complete group to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
