Largest stir-fry in the world made over 13,000 tacos for hungry festivalgoers in Mexico

Hundreds of hungry festivalgoers gathered together in Guadalupe, Nuevo León, Mexico this June to celebrate the spirit of community and chow down on some record-breaking food, after organizers cooked a mouth-watering array of tacos and a huge stir-fry on an absolutely ginormous pan.
The city of Guadalupe hosted La Discada 2025 in the foothills of the Sierra Madre mountains on 21 June, to celebrate the region’s cultural identity, promote tourism, and boost the local economy.
During the festival, they accomplished three new Guinness World Record titles for their incredible culinary feats: the most tacos served in one hour, with 13,215, the largest stir-fry, weighing 2,509 kg (5,331 lb), and the largest frying pan, measuring 7.315 m (23 ft) in diameter.
Upon entering the event grounds, it was clear that the centre of attention – geographically, and visually – was the largest frying pan, a gigantic piece of metal almost the size of a double-decker bus.
La Discada organizers, Grupo Collado Acero, and the Gobierno de Guadalupe spent 12 days building and assembling the cooking utensil that could support the amount of food they hoped to produce at the festival.
The pan (or “disco” in Spanish) would be frying up a traditional north Mexican dish called “la discada”, a meat-based meal including sausage, beef, pork, bacon, tomatoes, peppers, onions, and beer, all sautéed in pork lard.
The makers of the pan initially planned to use gas to heat the food, but instead changed their fuel to firewood, which was placed under the stir-fry while the pan was rotated above, thereby cooking all the ingredients evenly.

All the meat was provided by US Meat and Carnes Ramos, and it was chopped up and stored in the days prior to the event before it was transported to the festival grounds.
Over 100 culinary students then loaded up the pan full of meat and seasonings, resulting in a crispy yet juicy, flavourful yet filling, and absolutely mouth-watering mixture that took a total of three hours and 40 minutes to prepare.
The total weight of the finished discada was 2,509 kg (5,331 lb), making the dish the largest stir-fry in the world!
After the mixture was weighed, a team of festival workers, sponsored by the Instituto Hermann Hesse, started scooping the meat mixture into thousands of pre-prepared tortillas to distribute to attendees as tacos.
Each taco was prepared on a tortilla 10 cm in diameter, and served on plates of five – and with a total of 13,215 tacos counted, the group also took home the record for the most tacos served in one hour!
Everyone was extremely eager to try the food, and nearly all of the plates were taken by the 10,000 attendees, with the rest of the food being donated to local charities and orphanages after the event.
Guinness World Records Adjudicator Susana Reyes was in attendance for the festival, and said it was wonderful how the organizers “blended community spirit, cultural pride, fire, and flavour.”
When everyone had eaten their fill, the celebrations continued long after, with various activities including musical performances, lucha libre matches, salsa competitions, and traditional games. Several other brands also participated by preparing asados – meat cooked over an open fire – around the main cooking area.
With all that delicious food, lovely music, and fun environment, we’re sure these new record holders had a blast.
So congratulations to everyone that came out to La Discada 2025 – you’re Officially Amazing!
