To kick off season 2 of the hit TV show "Guinness World Records Unleashed," American cable network truTV took over Times Square for 8 hours earlier this month, welcoming hundreds of celebrities, fans, and passersby to attempt a shot at history.

The challenge fair setup saw four record stations open through the afternoon and nigh, giving contestants the chance to try and break an official Guinness World Records title in one of the following four categories (clockwise from top left, below):

-Fastest time to assemble a 20-shot glass pyramid

-Fastest 20 meter butt scoot

-Fastest time to make a twin bed by a team of two

-Most seated basketball free throws made in one minute

New Yorker Samuel "ESJAE" Jackson came away with the butt scoot record, providing one of the highlights of the day with a record time of 20.41 sec.

In addition to these ongoing challenges open to the public, perennial record breaker Ashrita Furman kicked off the festivities by breaking the record for most hard-boiled eggs caught with the mouth in one minute. And artist Andrew Gertler constructed the largest marshmallow mosaic, using 14,400 decorated marshmallows to create a 9.29 m² (100 ft²) portrait of "Good Morning America" co-host Sam Champion.

A contingent of truTV personalities were on hand to mingle with the crowd and attempt records of their own throughout the day, ranging from GWRU host Dan Cortese building a shot glass pyramid to Mark McGrath signing autographs and the stars of "Lizard Lick Towing" and "Hardcore Pawn" shooting free throws.
