Mum with tough soles breaks record for fastest 100-m barefoot run over LEGO bricks

Many of us have experienced the excruciating pain of standing on LEGO®.
And for reasons you may never understand, Gabrielle Wall (New Zealand) broke a world record by running across it for 100 m, without any shoes on.
As a mum of two, she’s probably stepped on the plastic bricks more times than she can count.
The brave soul (with brave soles) clocked in the fastest 100 m barefoot on LEGO® bricks at a time of 24.75 seconds in Christchurch, New Zealand, on 16 January.
The track was made using 300 kg (661 lb) of LEGO that was donated by the charity Imagination Station, a New Zealand organization that uses LEGO in its educational robotics and mechanics classes for kids.
By breaking this world record, Gabrielle has ticked an item off the bucket list she made following a health scare in 2022.
And she described it as an “unforgettable” experience.
“I am proud to have pushed myself to new limits,” she told us.
In our video, Gabrielle is wearing sunglasses, presumably to hide her tears from the pain of standing on all that LEGO.
To prepare, she trained running with a wider stance so that she could stay balanced on the track.
She did have a little stumble at one point, but quickly caught herself, and made it to the end of the track in an impressive time.
Gabrielle is hoping to break some more LEGO-based records, but maybe by building with it rather than walking on it.
