We're only halfway through 2025, and already so many incredible records have been broken!

From the farthest eyeball pop to the world’s tallest and shortest dogs meeting, these are the record-breaking highlights of the year so far – you don’t want to miss them.

Farthest eyeball pop

Feast your eyes on Williams Martin Sanchez Lopez (Uruguay) and his record-breaking orbs.

He can relax the muscles around his eyes and safely push out his eyeballs, a process called ‘protrusion’, which earned him the title of farthest eyeball pop (male).

His eyes can protrude a whopping 19 mm (0.74 in)!

Williams first realized he had “special” eyeballs when he was eight or nine years old, while messing around with his friends at school.

Longest tongue female

Speaking of incredible body feats, Chanel Tapper (USA) holds the record for longest tongue (female).

At 9.75 cm (3.8 in) from the tip to her lips, her tongue often causes people to get such a shock that they scream in horror when they see it.

And Chanel can do many tricks with her extra-long tongue: from removing Jenga blocks and flipping Red Solo Cups, to touching her nose and even holding up a spoon.

Hairiest face on a person

Boy with hairiest face

Lalit Patidar (India) has the hairiest face on a person (male), with 201.72 hairs per square centimetre.

Over 95% of his face is covered in hair.

He has an incredibly rare condition called hypertrichosis, also known as werewolf syndrome, causing an abnormal amount of hair growth – in fact, Lalit is one of only around 50 documented cases reported worldwide since the Middle Ages, making him one in a BILLION!

And to those who tell him he should remove his facial hair, he says: “I like how I am and I don’t want to change my look.”

Oldest person to perform an abdominal plank (male)

Oldest man to plank

Maynard Williams (New Zealand) became the oldest person to perform an abdominal plank (male) at age 78 years 135 days, proving that it’s never too late to break a world record.

Despite the record only requiring him to hold the position for three minutes, he kept it going for over 30!

Maynard’s loved ones teasingly branded him “insane” for doing it, to which he said: “I’m used to pushing myself hard both mentally and physically.

“Doing so helps to build mental toughness and we learn about our true capabilities, and those capabilities are far greater than what most of us believe.”

Most pull ups in 24 hours (male)

Another jaw-dropping fitness feat comes from Truett Hanes (USA), who holds the record for most pull ups in 24 hours by completing an astounding 10,001.

He told us about the experience: “What I learned about myself is: I won’t give up. I wasn’t blessed with unique ability or super strength and things have never really come easily to me, but I have been gifted the ability to not give up on my goals. Even if it takes years, I’ll see it through until it’s completed.

“The job isn’t finished when you’re tired, it’s finished when you’re done.”

Tallest domino structure

Lily Hevesh (USA), AKA Hevesh5, a YouTube star known for her impressive stacking and toppling of dominoes, assembled a team of builders to create the world’s tallest domino structure.

It took five days to complete, and it stood 10.128 m (33 ft 2.74 in) tall.

That’s about as tall as a telephone pole or the height of a three-storey building!

Fastest time to mentally add 100 four-digit numbers

Aaryan Shukla

Aaryan Shukla (India), a 14-year-old prodigy nicknamed as ‘Human Calculator Kid’ can do mental maths quicker than you could type it into your calculator.

After practising, competing and constantly fine-tuning his skills, he was challenged to take on some of the toughest mental calculation world records ever attempted.

In just one day, he achieved an impressive total of six records, such as the fastest time to mentally add 100 four-digit numbers (30.9 sec) and the fastest time to mentally multiply two eight-digit numbers (set of ten) (2 min 35.41 sec).

Aaryan says that “daily practice is one of the important aspects to prepare for competitions”, so he practises for about five or six hours every day.

Tallest and shortest dogs meet

Tallest and shortest dogs

The most iconic pair of pooches – tallest dog, Reginald, and smallest dog, Pearl – met earlier this year and became fast friends.

Reginald (Reggie), record holder for tallest dog living (male) stands at a shocking 3 ft 3 in (1.007 m) from the floor to the withers, while his new pal, Pearl, who holds the title for shortest dog living is just 3.59 in (9.14 cm) tall.

Their height difference is huge – three feet (91.56 cm), about the same height as a baseball bat or an acoustic guitar.

But that didn’t stop them from playing and bonding, sniffing everything around the house and then going into the backyard to run around and let off their excited energy.

From one giant to another – say hello to King Kong, the world’s tallest living water buffalo.

The behemoth bovine, who lives at Ninlanee Farm in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, measures 185 cm (6 ft 0.8 in) from the hoof to the withers.

Despite his gigantic stature, King Kong is nothing but a big softy who loves splashing around in the pond, munching on bananas and playing with his devoted caretakers.

Deepest underwater model photoshoot

Steven Haining’s (Canada) underwater images are as enchanting as they are record-breaking – with a model and his crew, he’s broken the record title for the deepest underwater model photoshoot, at 163.38 ft (49.80 m).

“I was nervous for weeks leading up to it because I like to overthink the ‘what ifs,’ said Haining. “But at the end of the day, we were all fine, and it was super fun.

“For me, for Ciara, and for Wayne and everybody who has ever been on these adventures with us, it was all about pushing the limits.

“And I know my friends – there’s always another adventure coming up for us.”

If this is just the first half of 2025, we’re in for a truly epic year of world records!
