Canadian man almost doubles Jenga stacking record with tower of over 3,000 bricks

A Canadian man who prides himself on his balancing skills has broken an impressive record by stacking thousands of Jenga blocks on top of each other.
Abbetjes Meindert de Boer achieved the most Jenga blocks stacked on one vertical Jenga block with an awe-inspiring total of 3,132.
He built his towering creation at a Mr Mike’s SteakhouseCasual in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, over six hours on 4 June 2024, using 58 boxes of Jenga blocks.
It weighed approximately 127 lb (58 kg).
The 32-year-old told us: “I decided to take on this record after realizing my passion for balancing.”
Abbetjes spent hours practising for the record in front of thousands of people live on his ‘The Professor Loves Balancing’ TikTok channel, honing his skills.
His personal best outside of his official attempt was a tower using 78 boxes, so perhaps one day he’ll extend his record.
He almost doubled the previous record of 1,840, set by Auldin Maxwell (Canada), who inspired Hallmark movie A World Record Christmas.
As he demonstrated his skills to us, he even built a tower block on top of his own head.
Reflecting on his big moment, Abbetjes said: “On the day of the attempt, I prepared all the Jenga boxes with numbers so it was easier to see what number I was at.
“I followed a pattern where I took the corners out so the centre of gravity stayed in the middle.
“It looks like an X in the middle and every time it’s overlapping the next one.”
Abbetjes said there were some tough moments where he had to restabilize his build, and of course, there’s nothing more disheartening than seeing it all come crashing down and having to start again.

But he tries not to let it overwhelm him too much, and sees it as an opportunity to build a new tower.
He said: “To have achieved this world record makes me feel very proud.
“Achieving something like this is beyond what I imagined possible. It is pleasant to finally get the validation for all the hard work that was put in.”
He celebrated breaking the record by pushing his tower over as the crowd applauded.
