Indian teenager with one in a BILLION werewolf syndrome breaks hairiest face record

This extraordinary young man is Lalit Patidar.
The 18-year-old from India has the hairiest face on a person (male), with 201.72 hairs per square centimetre.
Over 95% of his face is covered in hair.
He has an incredibly rare condition called hypertrichosis, also known as werewolf syndrome, which causes an abnormal amount of hair growth.
Lalit is one of only around 50 documented cases reported worldwide since the Middle Ages, making him one in a BILLION.
And he’s certainly a special guy.
He’s overcome all of the stares from strangers and nasty comments you’d sadly imagine he would have received.
The other kids at school were even scared of him when he showed up for his first day.
He told us: “They were scared of me but when they started knowing me and talking to me they understood I was not so different from them, and it was just on the outside that I looked different, but I’m not different inside.”
Lalit fully embraces who he is and the thing that makes him unique, even taking anyone interested along with him on his day-to-day life for his YouTube channel.
He recently flew to Milan, Italy, to appear on our television show Lo Show dei Record, having the hair on his face measured in order to determine if he’d officially take the record.
He visited a local trichologist who assessed him by shaving tiny portions of his face to take accurate measurements of his hairs per square cm.
After finding out he was a record breaker, he said: “I am speechless, I don’t know what to say because I’m very happy to get this recognition.”
Lalit says that while most people he meets treat him well, there are those who are not so kind to him.
But to those who tell him he should remove his facial hair, he says: “There is not much to say to people about that. I tell them that I like how I am and I don’t want to change my look.”
Lalit is surrounded by the love of his supportive family and dreams of seeing the world and experiencing other cultures.
