The world’s oldest man João Marinho Neto celebrated his 113th birthday in style – surrounded by all of his favourite people.

And the Brazilian reckons that’s why he’s lived as long as he has, because his life is full of love.

João turned 113 on 5 October and marked the occasion with a bash to remember.

In these lovely pictures, shared with us by supercentenarian experts LongeviQuest and João’s family, the superlative senior is seen sitting behind a gigantic cake.

The sweet treat is decorated with blue icing and golden accessories, including candles spelling out his name and age.

It also says “o homem mais velho do mundo”, which translates to “the oldest man in the world”.

It’s a title he’s very proud of, and he loves telling people: “There are no men older than me, just women!”
