giorgi proposal split image

A record breaker’s public declaration of love paid off when he got engaged on Lo Show dei Record.

Giorgi Kvantchiani (Georgia) had just broken the record for most rotating kneeling jumps in 30 seconds with a total of 44 when he decided to get straight back down on one knee.

As the show’s host Gerry Scotti watched on, Giorgi invited his girlfriend Maya on stage to pop that very important question.

It all happened on 20 February 2023, meaning they’re coming up to the first anniversary of their engagement.

Gerry said after the proposal: “It’s incredible, they don’t only break records on this show, they also get engaged, they get married!”

He added in jest: “And look, he even had the right excuse, he could’ve said ‘I’d like to, but my knee hurts’, but no, he fell on his knee anyway, look at that.”

Giorgi, 28, and Maya, 23, have been together for two years after meeting at a dance show in Saudi Arabia.

After deciding to take things to the next level, Giorgi knew the stage at Lo Show dei Record was the perfect setting for his romantic gesture.

He told us: “I had been thinking about the proposal for months, but I wanted to make an original proposal in a prestigious place, and I had the opportunity to do so soon.

“But I was very nervous. I was more nervous about the proposal than my record attempt, but I knew that I had to beat the record, or I would have been in a bad position to celebrate with the proposal.”

Giorgi added: “Maya was very shocked. She had no idea I was going to propose in front of so many people.

“I was extremely happy. This day is one I’ll remember forever.”

Giorgi and Maya are still busy planning their wedding, and we wish them all the best for their big day and a very happy future together.
