Let’s take a look back at the best human body records of 2024…
Most tattoos and body modifications
Esperance Lumineska Fuerzina (USA) broke three records with her stunning unique look.
She has the most body modifications (female) – a total of 89, and is the most tattooed person living (female) with 99.98% of her body covered in ink.
That percentage also means she is the most tattooed person ever (female).
Army veteran Esperance said: “I think it's obvious I'm not trying to adhere to traditional beauty standards, and that can be both liberating and also something many people don't understand and can be negative about.
“Now, I am exploring several creative pursuits and considering more education. I do think a lot about mindfulness and how to be of service, so I suppose some of my forward direction is kind of spiritual.”
Longest hair on a living person (female)
Aliia Nasyrova (Ukraine) has hair that could rival Rapunzel’s.
It measures a show-stopping 257.33 cm (8 ft 5.3 in), meaning her hair is even longer than the world’s tallest man Sultan Kösen, who measures in at 251 cm (8 ft 2.8 in).
She said: “I hope my story will inspire readers to love their natural beauty. I am a painter and I believe that every person is beautiful, even if they look ‘different’.”
Greatest height differential of a married couple (different sexes/taller woman)
Larry McDonnell and Jessica Burns-McDonnell (both USA) inspired us with their incredible love story.
Jessica is 177.8 cm (5 ft 10 in) and Larry, who has diastrophic dwarfism, stands at 91.44 cm (3 ft), meaning they have a record height difference of 86.36 cm (2 ft 9 in).
They met decades ago when Larry was held back in the first grade and ended up in the same elementary school class as Jessica.
It was years later that their friendship turned into love, and they’ve now been married for eight years and share four children.
When asked what their favourite thing about each other is, Larry said: “Well, when I have my arms around her, she feels like home and all the turmoil that’s going on in the world, it goes away, and it’s just me and her and it’s the most peaceful thing ever.”
Jessica added: “You know, 17 years, you have your ups and your downs.
"Some of our downs have been really down and he has been my rock, he’s been the person where I literally could not get up off the floor and he’s said, ‘I will pick you up and I’ll make it all right.’ And that’s what it’s felt like being with Larry.
“I can be anywhere in the world, but if I’m with Larry, I’m home.”
Widest tongue (female)
A woman from Texas, USA, officially has the world’s widest tongue.
Brittany Lacayo’s tongue measures 7.90 cm (3.11 in) at its widest point – that’s wider than a hockey puck and almost as wide as a credit card.
The attorney said: “It is neat and kind of funny.”
Highest combined age of six living siblings
The Overall sisters from Missouri, USA, broke a record together with their combined ages.
Norma (b. 5 February 1923), Lorene (b. 13 July 1925), Maxine (b. 1 November 1926), Doris (b. 13 June 1930), Margaret (b. 12 July 1933) and Elma (b. 10 July 1935) had a total age of 570 years and 40 days when it was verified on 6 March.
“This record attempt has been an exciting time for these sisters who are all now in the twilight of their lives,” said Norma’s son, Dean Jacob.
The sisters’ older brother Stanley would have turned 102 this year, but sadly died in a bicycle accident aged 81.
Smallest hands on a person (female)
The world’s shortest woman Jyoti Amge (India) added to her collection of records this year.
Her left hand measured 2.79 in (7.1 cm) and right hand measured 2.83 in (7.2 cm), giving her the smallest hands on a person (female).
Her hands are almost half the height of a Coca-Cola can (4.8 in; 12.2 cm) and smaller than the diameter of a baseball (2.9 in; 7.4 cm).
Largest hands/feet on a living teenager
16-year-old Eric Kilburn Jr (USA) broke records with his hands and feet.
He has the largest feet on a living teenager, with ones measuring 34.30 cm (13.50 inches). His shoes are an American size 23 (the equivalent of a size 22 for the UK).
Eric’s hands are just as extraordinary: measuring 23.20 cm (9.13 inches), making them the largest hands on a living teenager.
He said: “People are usually amazed and feel comfortable starting conversations with me about the size of my feet and hands. I meet lots of interesting people this way.”
