Inside Jyoti and Rumeysa's meet up as tallest and shortest women bond over beauty tips

Meeting each other for the first time for GWR Day 2024, Rumeysa Gelgi (the tallest woman in the world, from Türkiye) and Jyoti Amge (the shortest woman living, from India) have taken London by storm.
The two beloved ICONS are among the protagonists of Guinness World Records 2025, the edition that kicks off the 70th Anniversary celebrations of the book, and the absolute stars of the 20th anniversary of Guinness World Records Day.
The two women celebrated the in style, sharing a sumptuous afternoon tea at London's Savoy Hotel.
Unsurprisingly, the pictures of their iconic get-together – and, of course, their jaw-dropping height gap! – quickly gained resonance across global media.
"I’m delighted that I’ve met Rumeysa," Jyoti said about the event.
"She is so good-natured, and I felt very comfortable talking to her."
I was so happy to look up today and see the world’s tallest woman - Jyoti
Separated by a jaw-dropping height difference of 152.36 cm (5 ft), 30-year-old Jyoti and 27-year-old Rumeysa quickly proved to be on the same wavelength.
They kicked things off right away by complimenting each other and, thanks to their life experiences and shared passions, they easily bridged the linguistic and physical differences.
“I knew Jyoti and I shared similar interests, so I felt we would easily find common ground,” Rumeysa reflected after their encounter at the Savoy.
“While the language barrier limited how much we could chat one-on-one, we complimented each other a lot and had a lovely connection.”
Their meeting was a chance to exchange self-care tips and stories about their lives: lives that may be obvious opposites, and yet more similar than one might imagine.
Are you curious about the topics that brought these two amazing women together? We were too!
That is why we peeked behind the scenes of their chat — diving into the everyday lives of the tallest and shortest women in the world.

A shared love for self-care
A young woman’s life can be tough and record holders are no exception.
Like most girls their age, Rumeysa and Jyoti are passionate about their self-care routines.
A four-step skincare routine is Rumeysa’s go-to choice to unwind after long days: to relax and take care of her skin, the record holder likes to take care of her skin using her favourite cleanser.
Then, she follows up toning, moisturizing, and applying spot treatment if she has any.
“I always make sure to remove my makeup before going to bed, no matter how tired I am,” she adds.
For overall self-care, I stay as active as possible by exercising and swimming twice a week. I avoid junk food, processed meals and refined sugar - Rumeysa
Jyoti loves to spend her free time with her family in India.
To de-stress, the American Horror Story actress spends most of her time scrolling through her social media, chatting with her followers and filming new Reels.
She is also an enthusiastic player of Carrom, a traditional Indian board game played with disks.
If she has time to relax between work projects, Jyoti loves to shop for new outfits, explore new places and dedicate time to her self-care routine.
“I love doing nail art!” she adds.
Jyoti and Rumeysa share their beauty routines
Jyoti’s glamorous personal style is no mystery for her many followers.
She often flaunts a vibrant red lip and bright nail polish and, with a fanbase of over 2.1M followers on Instagram (and counting), she always puts her best foot — and her best smile — forward.
Jyoti's longstanding title as the shortest woman living (mobile) fills her with joy, and her popularity means that she can always count on the support and love of her fans.
She was first recognized as the shortest teenager in 2009 and became the shortest actress after she joined the cast of American Horror Story: Freak Show.
As she previously revealed on her YouTube channel, the social media star loves to dedicate time to her makeup routine.
She is self-taught and has learned everything she knows about makeup while watching others.
Now, the actress is always camera-ready and isn't afraid to play with bold colours.
“Lipstick is my favourite,” she revealed.
I love it, I never go out without makeup — Jyoti
Similarly, Rumeysa (who was measured as the tallest teenager living when she was 17) reveals that she has been drawn to makeup since she was a teenager, mainly using it for special occasions.
“But I began taking it more seriously in my late teens and early 20s.”
However, struggling with acne in her early twenties reshaped her perspective: “It made me feel insecure and obliged to cover my entire face with makeup, even though I didn’t feel good about relying on it that way.”
Following a diagnosis of severe hormonal adult acne, Rumeysa could eventually treat her condition with medications and started seeing positive results .
Improving her skin’s health also restored her relationship with makeup: not a way to hide, but a tool for creativity on her own terms.
“I no longer feel pressured to cover my face and haven’t used heavy skin-covering products like foundation in years,” she explained.
“Now I wear makeup purely to lift my mood and add a touch of glam. It’s such a relief, after everything I went through with my skin.”

However, the protagonist of the Guinness World Records documentary Rumeysa: Walking Tall always matches her sharp winged eyeliner and flawless blush with a thorough skincare routine.
“I have a bag full of my skincare products and I consider all of them essential!” She commented playfully when asked what's the one item she could not do without.
“If I had to choose just one, I would say cleanser.”
Shopping as the shortest and tallest women in the world
“Fashion is all about having fun with your style.”
That’s what Jyoti writes on her Instagram and, with her megawatt smile and unique style, the record holder has proved that she fully embraces that motto.
The actress encourages her followers to embrace their unique beauty, and wows her fan base with highly curated content and accessories, playing with different styles to reinvent herself.
In 2022, the record holder opened the doors of her bedroom to us: here, Jyoti relaxes surrounded by pink walls and bright colours, and the pieces of furniture are made bespoke to fit her necessities.
On that occasion, she showed us her social media station, wardrobe and remarkable shoe collection.
"I don’t know my real shoe size,” she added during a 2022 interview with YouTuber Ruhi Çenet, explaining how she wears special shoes.
From hot pink bags to glamorous jewels, without forgetting ring lights for impeccable Reels, every element in the room mirrors Jyoti's style: bright and larger-than-life.
"I like designer clothes," she says.
"I like wearing crop tops, gowns and sometimes traditional attires, but I love wearing Western clothes more!"
However, finding garments can be jarring for the young woman, who stands at 62.8 cm (2 ft 0.72 in).
The Nagpur-born actress often designs her own clothes and, as she must be carried almost everywhere, going shopping can be a hassle.
On her YouTube channel, the record holder explained that her popularity adds an extra challenge to the already difficult mission of finding dresses that fit her measurements and personal preferences.
"I have to buy from children’s departments," she revealed during an interview with What's the Jam? in March 2024.
"I’ve even worn doll’s clothes," she added.
Luckily, Jyoti is not alone in her quest for the perfect outfit.
“I have a designer who makes clothes according to what I like and prefer,” the American Horror Story star explained.
I send her designs, and she makes lovely dresses for me - Jyoti
Rumeysa, on the other hand, faces challenges at the opposite end of the spectrum.
Towering at a whopping 215.16 cm (7 ft 0.7 in), the 27-year-old frequently turns to plus-size brands and adapts dresses into tops, since actual tops are too short for her.
“My trousers and outerwear, like coats and cardigans, are always tailor-made,” she carries on.
However, London had a pleasant surprise in store for Rumeysa: during the week, she was introduced to a few brands that perfectly fit her without being tailor-made.
"It was the first time I could find a coat that fit perfectly and was not tailor-made," she explained.
For the record holder, finding the right shoe size isn’t an easy feat either.
"I either buy them from US brands that supply trainers for NBA players or have them custom-made in Türkiye" she explains. "Especially boots."
"My options are very limited and it’s quite challenging to find a piece I really like."
However, when it's time to accessorize and indulge in a good mani, Rumeysa and Jyoti agree: they both love nail art and jewellery.
“I have built quite a collection over the years,” Rumeysa adds.
ICONS of Empowerment
Despite their wildly different life journeys, Rumeysa and Jyoti have many things in common: both kind and driven, the two women aren't afraid to use their voices to educate others and make the world a more welcoming place.
Rumeysa has Weaver syndrome, an extremely rare genetic condition.
One of only 27 documented cases in the world (and the first-ever case in her native Türkiye), her record-breaking stature is caused by mutations in the EZH2 gene: measuring a whopping 59 cm (1ft 11in) at birth, in 1997, she was the longest baby (female) ever.
On the other hand, Jyoti’s current height means she's shorter than an average two-year-old.
That's due to achondroplasia, a form of genetic dwarfism that targets cartilage's development into bones and results in short height.
Ranjana, Jyoti's mother, recalls that her daughter was an average-sized child until the age of five.
However, Jyoti never stopped dreaming big: she attended school like every child her age, even though she required a custom-made desk and chair, and pursued her dreams of becoming an actress.
Today, her portfolio counts several TV appearances both internationally and in her motherland.
“I used to feel insecure about my height and being different,” Jyoti confessed on her YouTube channel.
“However, as people got to know me and I became famous, no one made me feel anything less or different than anybody else.”
Both record holders enjoyed their days together in London, although their packed agenda meant they didn't have much time to sightsee.
"The best thing about meeting Jyoti was getting to know such an outstanding record-holder, creating memories and celebrating the special GWR Day together," Rumeysa says.
"I have known about her for over a decade, even before my own journey at Guinness World Records began," she carries on, adding that she's been following Jyoti on social media for a couple of years.
I first saw her in 2013 when she appeared in Türkiye's adaptation of Lo Show dei Record. I remember watching her on TV and being so impressed by her beauty - Rumeysa
Becoming GWR ICONS
“It’s impossible for me to choose just one favourite moment from the week in London, I treasured every single second spent with my GWR family in London,” Rumeysa said.
“However, if I had to pick, receiving the ICON certificate would be the standout moment.”
During the event at the Savoy, the pair was surprised by Editor-in-Chief Craig Glenday with a special certificate to celebrate their places among the Guinness World Records ICONS.
Both Rumeysa and Jyoti were delighted about the award, which filled them with pride and joy.
"I never thought I would be called an ICON and it’s extra special that it is in the 70th-anniversary edition of Guinness World Records," Jyoti said.
“It’s hard to put into words how I feel,” Rumeysa agreed.
“Being inducted into the Hall of Fame for Guinness World Records 2023 was already a dream come true, but earning the ICON title is truly beyond anything I ever imagined."
As we thank these two wonderful women for a GWR Day to remember (and we take notes from their skincare and self-care routines!), there are lessons we all can learn from their afternoon tea.
Their kindness and positivity, as well as their readiness to overcome the language, physical and cultural dissimilarities, is a reminder that it's always possible to find elements that bring us together.
And that is, indeed, what an ICONIC meeting looks like.
It’s an honour I will always treasure - Rumeysa
