On St. David's Day (1 March 2020), Welsh language television channel S4C travelled throughout the country, recording record attempts far and wide - from Cardiff to Caernarfon.

Largest Welsh cake
Would it really be St. David’s Day without a Welsh cake?
Well, how about a Welsh cake that weighs 28.8 kg (63 lb 8 oz)?
That’s the size of the whopping Welsh cake created by GBBO's Michelle Evans-Fecci, Tân-Y-Castell Bakery, Merched Y Wawr Sir Gâr and Teify Forge in Carmarthen – officially the world’s largest Welsh cake.
This record was previously held by Llanidloes Charter Market Group (UK) in Llanidloes, Powys, who’ve held the record since July 2014.
It was originally set by Bala and Penllyn Tourism Association (Wales), in Bala High Street, Gwynedd in March 2014.
Fastest 50 m pulling a narrowboat (female)
Welsh strongwoman Nicky Walters attempted this incredible record on top of the towering Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.
She managed to pull the narrowboat, which weighed over 19 tonnes, the required distance in just 1 min 35.53 seconds.
The aqueduct is actually the tallest navigable canal aqueduct in the world, standing at 38.4m tall (126-ft).
Largest Welsh folk dance
Children from Pennard School in Swansea gathered together to break the record for the largest Welsh folk dance, an attempt organised by teacher Gemma Mabbet.
In total, 287 people participated including schoolchildren, teachers and parents.
Most candles extinguished by jumping heel clicks in one minute
Tudur Phillips has set the record for most candles extinguished by jump heel clicks in one minute, snuffing out 55.
Extinguishing a candle using fancy footwork is a move used in traditional Welsh clog dancing.
Most football (soccer) knee catches in 30 seconds
Welsh football freestyler and multiple record holder Ash Randall has smashed not one, but two Guinness World Records titles in celebration of St. David's Day!
He’s now the proud record holder for most football (soccer) knee catches in 30 seconds (23) and most football (soccer) ‘hotstepper’ ball control tricks in one minute (56).
Ash’s skills have already earned him many record titles, including a record for controlling a football on top of a moving car!
Longest human archway relay
Members of the public turned out in great numbers today along Aberystwyth Promenade to attempt the record for the longest human archway relay. In the end, 164 pairs took part in the attempt.
Unfortunately, due to the unruly waves, there was no kicking the bar!

Daeth plant o Ysgol Pennard yn Abertawe ynghyd i dorri record y ddawns werin Gymreif fwyaf, a drefnwyd gan yr athrawes Gemma Mabbet.
Y cyfanswm o bobl a ymgeisiodd oedd 287 gan gynnwys plant ysgol, athrawon a rhieni.
Ddiffodd y nifer fwyaf o ganhwyllau gyda chliciau sawdl naid mewn un munud
Mae Tudur Phillips wedi gosod y record am ddiffodd y nifer fwyaf o ganhwyllau gyda chliciau sawdl naid mewn un munud, gan ddiffodd 55.
Mae diffodd canhwyllau gyda’ch traed yn step ffansi mewn clocsio Cymreig traddodiadol.

Erbyn hyn, mae’n falch o ddal y record am y nifer mwyaf o ‘knee catches’ pêl-droed mewn 30 eiliad (23) a’r nifer mwyaf o driciau rheoli pêl ‘hot stepper’ mewn un munud (56). Mae sgiliau Ash eisoes wedi ennill llawer o recordiau iddo, gan gynnwys record am reoli pêl-droed ar ben car sy’n symud!

Daeth nifer fawr o’r cyhoedd allan ar Bromenâd Aberystwyth heddiw i geisio torri’r record am y bwa dynol hiraf. Yn y diwedd, cymerodd 164 o barau ran yn yr ymgais.
