Kevin (Probably) Saves the World star Jason Ritter is a big fan of spreading the love and now has a Guinness World Records title to prove it. 

While making a guest appearance on ABC’s The View on Monday 9 October, the adored Hollywood star surprised audience members with a record attempt for the Most hugs given in one minute by an individual – a popular record set last year in India, which earned impressive viewership on GWR’s Facebook page.

The attempt was organized in light of ABC’s official declaration that Tuesday 10 October was “National Hug-a-Kevin Day!”, inspired by Ritter’s new show Kevin (Probably) Saves the World.

Jason had the daunting task of beating a minimum of 79 hugs.

With the support of co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin and brand-new co-host, Meghan McCain, Jason lined up 95 volunteers for the attempt who were more than ready to be embraced by Ritter and become record holders.

Before adjudicator Hannah Ortman gave the starting signal, Ritter properly stretched and dawned sweatband gear to physically prepare himself to set a world record – an ambition he admitted he's had since childhood.

After a valiant effort, Jason officially became a record holder with 86 hugs, waving his newly awarded certificate on stage in triumph.

"This record embodies our values of inclusiveness and passion for record breaking," commented adjudicator Hannah Ortman. "The excitement and competitive spirit of everyone involved was infectious, with Jason leading the way. Our Guinness World Records 2018 edition encourages everyone to find their superpower and he found his, hugs!"
