Welcome to the Guinness World Records Italian Show – a weekly video series which features the most astonishing, shocking and awe-inspiring record attempts from the seventh series of Italy’s Lo Show Dei Record.
In this week’s episode, over 80 people attempt the seemingly impossible challenge Fastest time to cross a greased pole, with most unable to reach the end of the bar without falling into the foam pit below.
Eventually, Italian Antonino Papa takes his turn and he skilfully darts across the slimy 12 metre pole, breaking the record in a breath-taking 3.09 seconds.
Papa significantly bettered the previous record of 4.96 which was achieved by Joe DaSilva (USA) on the set of 'Guinness World Records Gone Wild!' in Los Angeles, California, USA, in 2012.
